He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard J. McCaffery and Shirley White; his wife Jean Marie Fischer McCaffery; and his brothers, Leonard J. McCaffery, Jr. and Michael P. McCaffery.

He is survived by: his children, Sean McCaffery (Jana) and Meghan McCaffery Roussel; his grandchildren, Dylan, Molly, Jacob, Jonah, Phoebe and Julia; and his sister Susan Guidry (Kenneth). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
