He was predeceased by: his parents, Minnie Kanter and Morris Kanter; his brother Philip; and his wife Sandra Cotlar Kanter. He is survived by: his daughters, Cathy Bart (Morris), Wendy Rones (David) and Judy Lieberman (Glenn); his grandchildren, Carrie Marks (Austin), Michelle Goehring (Jacob), Jennifer Kboudi (Elliben), Jason Rones (Melanie), Ryan Rones, Jeffrey Rones, Jordan Lieberman and Mindy Lieberman; his great grandchildren, Sam, Maya, Ari, Max, Alex and Nate; his siblings-in-law, Dr. Alvin Cotlar (Ginger Rogers) and Nomi Kanter; his cousin Bunny Koock; and his caregivers, Geraldine Sims, Joycelian Sims, Cheryl McClain, Maxie Watson, Tachaye Patterson and Cynthia Scott. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation was held on Sunday, November 3rd 2024 at 12:00 PM at 4000 W Esplanade Ave, Metairie, LA 70002. A prayer was held on Sunday, November 3rd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
