He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Eva E. Cerrato; his children, Vanny Dennington (William), Patricia Torrealba (Yvar), Ciro M. Cerrato (Jennifer) and Leslie Long (Russell); his grandchildren, Ryan, Patrick, Ali, Max, Sofia, Lucia, Olivia, Brody, Chloe, Aiden and Mia; and his parent Egla Zelaya.
In 1973, he moved his family to New Orleans to pursue a second specialty in Cardiology at Charity Hospital.
