He was predeceased by: his wife Marguerite C. Ricks. He is survived by: his children, Beth Homer (Fred), Cindy Garic (Ronnie) and Charles Ricks III (Susan); and his grandchildren, Christopher (Lauren), Ron (Natalie), Mark (Rebecca), Nicole (Kyle), Angelle (Jeff), Josh (Staci), Jonathan, Corey and Christine. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to Notre Dame Hospice, and welcomes donations made to St. Jude in lieu of flowers.
