He was predeceased by: his wife Yvonne Mateu Hellmers. He is survived by: his children, Keith (Carla), Kathy, Kim, Chip (Stephanie) and Kendall (Heather); and his siblings, Eva Earls and George Hellmers. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
