He was predeceased by: his parents, Katherine Nix and Frank Nix; his sister Patricia Bounds; his sons, Jeff Nix and Russell Stuart Nix; his grandson Russell Ian Nix; his father-in-law Bill Dans, Jr.; his niece Judy Bounds Hunter; and his nephew Kyle Kleinpoppen.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Nix; his mother-in-law Bernice Cheatwood Dans; his daughters, Cindi Nix, Dory Rigdon Nix and Heather Dans Evans (Clint); his brother Paul Nix (Danelle); his grandchildren, Jan Hemphill (Joe), Anna Howard (Jason), Erik Nix (Viviana), Angie Lewis (Drew), Evan Nix, Lexi LaRoux, Aubrey Evans, Mackenzie Evans and Maebrey Evans; and his great grandchildren, John Samuel Nix, Kenai Thogode and Ailani Nix.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, The Gideons, Wounded Warrior Project, or an organization of choice.
