It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elda Perez Matherne (Marrero, Louisiana), born in Lafitte, Louisiana, who passed away on February 6, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Skiro Perez and Gertie Brunet Perez; her husband Charles J. Matherne; her son Paul "Skiro" Matherne; and her brother Leo Perez.

She is survived by: her children, James Matherne, Sr. (Diana), Cynthia Rojas (Ernest) and Joey Matherne (Georganne); her grandchildren, Heide Gisclair (Doyle), James Matherne, Jr. (Victoria), Theron Rojas, Alaric Rojas (Ashly), Deidre Bourgeois (Kale), Brennan Rojas (Paula), Trent Rojas Christopher Adams (Gina), Michelle Matherne and Jolie Matherne; and her siblings, Hazel Perez Helmer, Arthur Perez Sr., Cheryl Perez Dempster, Judy Perez Scioneaux, Tilden Perez, Elsie Perez, Jerry Perez Sr. and David Perez. She is also survived by many other extended family, her loving godchildren and dear friends.
