He was predeceased by: his wife Janette Gonzales; his parents, Hilery Gonzales and Noilen Boykins Gonzales; and his siblings, Talton Gonzales, Russell Gonzales, James W. Gonzales, Ellis Gonzales, Odeal Gonzales and Creotha Taylor.
He is survived by: his children, Nelson Gonzales, Jr. of Baton Rouge, Patrick Gonzales of Marksville, Vickie Dunn of Sacramento, Connie Gonzales of Marksville, Kathy Goudeau of Alexandria, Carolyn Jones of Baton Rouge and Janell Destin of Evergreen; and his sisters, Bennie Ruth Augustine of Marksville and Sandra Sue Pirete of Pontiac, Michigan. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
