She was predeceased by: her son Terry Glenn Rao; her husband James Carter; her parents, Calvin Henry and Nina Elizabeth Bowden (Banks); and her siblings, Lorie Washburn, Charlie Bowden and Max Bowden.

She is survived by: her sister Aunt; her daughters, Lynn Truxillo (Nick) of Cat Spring, TX and Susan Rao Hills (Chris) of Many, LA; her stepson Bob Rao (Pat) of Lexington, TX; her brother Calvin H. Bowden, Jr.; her wife Ilaverne of Nacogdoches, TX; her grandchildren, Allen Smith of Houston, TX, Richard Smith (Karen) of Willis, TX and Amy Davis of Many, LA; her great grandchildren, Cody Smith (Stephanie), Kayden Smith, Brandon Smith, Richard Smith, Jr., Tyler Smith, Ethan Goldberg and Ayden Goldberg; and her great great grandchildren, Kingston Lynn Smith and Richlynn Elizabeth Smith. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
