He was predeceased by: his wife Willie Mae Tate; his parents, Simon Tate and Yola Tate; his granddaughter Sharon Vergara; and his siblings, Ira Tate, John Tate, Leroy Tate, Allen Tate and Wilson Tate.
He is survived by: his children, Steven Tate (Lisa), Tony Tate (Theresa "Sha") and Angela Dauzat (Roland); his sisters, Louella Knott and Bertha Wilkes (John); and his sister-in-law Marie Tate. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 31st 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday, January 1st 2025 from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Escude Funeral Home (6608 Porterie St, Mansura, LA 71350). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 1st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church (3645 Main St, Hessmer, LA 71341).
