Terry Cecil Hanes Obituary

Terry Cecil Hanes, age 83, of Mandeville, LA passed away on October 28, 2021 from complications of skin cancer. Born August 28, 1938 in Commerce, Texas to the late Cecil and Frances Terry Hanes. Beloved husband to Dorothy Wood Hanes for 61 years. He was a loving father to Francie and husband Robert Dillard of Baton Rouge, LA and Terry C. Hanes, Jr. of North Richland Hills, TX. He was a proud "Granddaddy" to Abigail Dillard of Waco, TX, Cody Dillard of Chicago, IL, Jordan Hanes of Los Angeles, CA and Joshua Hanes of North Richland Hills, TX.

Terry worked from 12 years old raising cows and delivering milk off the farm. He graduated Commerce High School and served as CHS's first Key Club President, attended East Texas State University (Texas A&M Commerce) and Gumpton Jones Mortuary College, Dallas, TX.

He worked for W. Y. Goff Funeral Home, Commerce, TX and Williams Funeral Home, Garland, TX. He continued his career in sales with Lehn and Fink (makers of Lysol) as District Manager in Seattle, WA, Melitta Coffee Company, Garland, TX and Cherry Hill, NJ as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Baumer Foods (Crystal Hot Sauce) as Chief Operating Officer until his retirement after Hurricane Katrina. His priority was his family and he enjoyed golf, especially with the Mississippi Men's Golf Association and friends at Beau Chene. He loved his church, New Covenant Presbyterian Church, Mandeville, LA where he served as a ruling elder for 6 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Services at Commerce Funeral Home, 1505 Washington St., Commerce, TX 75428 on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow the service at Rosemound Cemetery, 500 Ross St., Commerce, TX 75428.
