He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus J. Cox and Mattie Ethel Sutherland Cox; his wife Mary Dean Shipp Cox; his child Caren Marie Cox; and his siblings, James "Carrol" Cox, Mary Coder, Edna Burdette and Mildred Perry.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Dale Cox (Amy) and Susan Kay Cox; and his grandchildren, Nathan Sizemore, Aaron Sizemore, Celina Sizemore Corona, Molly Cox and Camryn Cox. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear lifelong friends.
Donations to Samaritan's Purse in memorium are preferred in lieu of flowers.
