He was predeceased by: his parents, J. B. Edna Fontenot and Armide Aucoin Fontenot; his wife Melba Jean Hidalgo Fontenot; and his siblings, Frazee Fontenot and Ann Joseph Fontenot.
He is survived by: his children, Nichole Fontenot Suire of Lake Charles and Wendall Mark Fontenot (Patricia) of Midland, Texas; his grandchildren, Jacob Andrew Fontenot (Jennifer), Nicholas Britt Suire (Brittany), Ashley Rebecca Fontenot (Kyle), Christian Skylar Suire, Kye Joseph Fontenot (Molly) and Mark Anthony Fontenot; his great grandchildren, Hunter Fontenot, Garrett Fontenot, Finnley Suire, Addison Fontenot, Jaci Bigley, Colton Suire, Kason Bigley, Landry Suire and Kameron Fontenot; and his brother Edley Paul Fontenot.
