She was predeceased by: her parents, Augustin Deo Gradney (Gradenigo) and Anaise Verrett LaChapelle Gradney; her sister Gladys Gradney Fontenot; her husband Leroy Chretien; her daughter-in-law Belinda Chretien; her grandchildren, Carla Smith, Arthur Kenneth Lee, II and Timothy John "TJ" Aymond; her great grandchild Danielle Renee Veal; her nephew Joseph Fontenot; her niece Bertha Fontenot; and also Charles Smith.
She is survived by: her former spouse Mayance Fontenot; and her children, Cora, Martin M. Fontenot (Thelma), Richard Lee Chretien, Dorothy Arceneaux (Donald), Aniece Linda Smith, Helen Lee (Kenneth), Rogers Chretien (Laura), Joseph Chretien (Virginia), Gregory Chretien (Pam) and Tina Fontenot (JR). She is also survived by ses twenty-nine grandchildren, forty-nine great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Upon this strong foundation, she continued to practice her faith all her life, first as a member of Little Flower of Jesus Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Pine Claire, and then Saint Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou, Louisiana.
