With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Melvin John Chelena of Madisonville, Louisiana, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 20, 2024 at the age of 84. He was predeceased by: his former wife Rita Elaine Perrilloux Chelena; his wife Dinah King Chelena; his parents, Charles Andrew Chelena and Muriel Newcombe Chelena; and his siblings, Donald Chelena, Donna Chelena and Carolyn Chelena Feldner.
He is survived by: his children, Eric Chelena, Todd and Sandra Chelena; and his grandsons, Tyler and Mason Chelena. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Chelena may be made to the ASPCA or local Humane Society.
