It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Robert Thorpe Sr. of Madisonville, Louisiana, born in Des Moines, Iowa, who passed away on August 3, 2020, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Russell Thorpe and Helen Marie Milosevic Thorpe; and his stepfather Bernie Mularz. He is survived by: his wife Hazel Aleela Elliott Thorpe; his children, Jim R. Thorpe, Jr. (Ann Marie) and Theresa T. Johnson (David Ralph); his grandchildren, Nicole T. Lyons (Chris), Heidi Thorpe (Nick Rachuna), Tyler Thorpe (Emily), Blake Cotton, Reece Cotton, Jesse Thorpe, Aleela Baune (Keith), Amanda BenAri (Daniel), Anna Hofbauer (Aaron), Emma Buresh, Sara Buresh, Casey Barker (Sean) and Maddie Johnson; and his sister Toni Elliott (Kenneth Elliott, II). He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
