It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ethel Oppenheimer Thompson of Lydia, Louisiana, who passed away on July 20, 2021, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Jeremiah Thompson Sr.; her parents, Nicholas Oppenheimer and Elizabeth Oppenheimer; her siblings, Melvin, Alton Oppenheimer and Elvina Touriac; and her grandson Melvin Thompson.
She is survived by: her children, Perry Thompson (Patricia) of New Iberia, LA, Terry Thompson (Ursula) of Patoutville, LA, Jeremiah Thompson, Jr. (Tommy Manuel) of Jeanerette, LA, Peggy Boutte (Walter, Jr.) of Patoutville, LA, Judy Thompson (Tim Merrick) of New Iberia, LA and Ernadean Thompson (Jay Johnson) of Lafayette, LA; her brother Carlton Oppenheimer (Peggy) of New Iberia, LA; her siblings-in-law, Louis Thompson (Alice) of Grand Marais, LA, Leona Thompson of Grand Marais, LA, Jacqueline Thompson of Katy, TX and Mary Murphy of Denver, CO; and her godchildren, Paul Raymond and Catherine "Cat" Boutte. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Due to the Covid 19 surge, masks are required for all attendees at the funeral home, church and cemetery.
