He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Latiolais and Celina Toffier Latiolais; his wife Dorothy Toffier Latiolais; his children, Walter "Wally" Latiolais, Jr., Connie L. Guidry and Kathy L. Holtzclaw; his grandson Newbon "Nubbin" Guidry III; and his siblings, Irene Pelous, Mildred Seneca, Rena Olivier, Doris "Lil" Latiolais and Charles "Charlie" Latiolais, Sr..

He is survived by: his son Scott Latiolais (Annette); his grandchildren, Dorothy "Dottie" Andres, Moriah Guidry, Joshua Guidry, Christian Guidry, Silas Holtzclaw, Quinlynn H. Johnson, Ashley Latiolais and Jenny Latiolais; and his great grandchild Blake Lukaszeski. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Starting as a tool pusher, Walter's unwavering work ethic and determination propelled him to the role of supervisor, where he continued to make significant contributions to the industry.
