He is survived by: his wife Carmen O'Quinn Bates of Lena; his sons, William Neal Bates of Lena, Robert Glynn Bates of Goldonna and Charles Rood of Youngsville; and his brother Randy Bates of Lena. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
