He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Otis G. Bates, Wanda Rae Tanner and Charles Jack Basco; and his stepgrandfathers, Paul Racine and Tony Tanner.
He is survived by: his parents, Neal Bates of Sharp and Karen Bates (Danny Budnik) of Flatwoods; his sister Jessica Bates Deen (Matthew) of Colfax; his nieces and nephews, Leah Parpart, Talan Parpart, Jaya Deen, Gavin Deen, Paisly Deen and Max Deen; and his grandmother Gloria Basco of Flatwoods.
