He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Lavigne, Sr. and Louise Dean Heitman; his siblings, William "Shorty" Heitman, David Heitman and Elizabeth Heitman Schamback; his grandson Gary Heitman, Jr. (A. L.); and his family Elaine.
He is survived by: his wife Lillie "Elaine" Michiels Heitman; and his children, Sandy Riché (Carl), Gary Heitman (Monica), Susan Heitman, Dr. Daniel Heitman (Debbie) and Angie Sealey (Doug). He is also survived by ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
