He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Jane Francois Fontenot; his parents, Alphonse Fontenot and Helena Boudreaux Fontenot; his children, John Fontenot, Kenneth Fontenot, Randy Fontenot, Steven Fontenot, Jimmie Fontenot and Jennifer Fontenot; and his sisters, Alma Reed and Helen Myers.
He is survived by: his children, Gerald Fontenot (Mary) of Lawtell, Michael Fontenot (Theresa) of Opelousas and Diana Vidrine (Darrel) of Tyler, TX; and his daughters-in-law, Jamie Fontenot, Rhonda Fontenot and Anna Fontenot. He is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
