He is survived by: his wife Joann Joseph Byers; his children, John Byers, Shirley Byers, Levi Byers, Jr and Jolethia Byers; his stepdaughter Candace Sterling; his godchildren, Jerry Singleton, Jr. and Charlitta Naverro; his friend Michael Cooks; his brother Gaylon; and his sisters-in-law, Sally Joseph Lightell and Viola Byers. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren.
