He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Zaunbrecher and Annie Dischler Zaunbrecher; his daughter Mary Catherine Zaunbrecher Oglivie; his mother-in-law Catherine Busse; and his siblings, Leo Zaunbrecher (Stella), Edna Broussard (Bruce), Ferdinand Zaunbrecher (Janet), Dot Zaunbrecher, Howard Melancon, Harold Zaunbrecher (Pauline), Gerald Zaunbrecher (Shirley) and Gina Tate (Gordon).
He is survived by: his daughter Kelson Annie Zaunbrecher Swancy; his son-in-law Burt Oglivie; his stepson Donald Glynn; his grandchildren, James Oglivie, Aiden, Nathan and Emily Swancy; his stepgranddaughter Julianna Lafitte; and his siblings, Hilary Zaunbrecher (Suzanne) and Joyce Melancon. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
