We bid farewell to Wilfred Chavis (Lake Charles, Louisiana), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on March 1, 2025 at the age of 78. Wilfred touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillian Bushnell and Arthur Chavis; his sons, Leo Stevens Sr. and Michael Chavis; and his siblings, Joseph Guillory, James Chavis, Betty J Chavis, Betty Lou, Rodgas Chavis Alzina (Duggie), William Chavis Sr., Arthur Chavis Jr., Wilson Chavis (Boozoo) and Edward Chavis.
He is survived by: his wife Lillie Fontenot Chavis; and his children, Wilfred Chavis Jr. (Barbara), Bob Anthony Chavis (Nakia), Bryon Fontenot, Connie Fontenot Kirkpatrick (Joe), Tammy Fontenot Spencer (Dave) and Yolanda Fontenot. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 bonus grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 9 bonus great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the New Faith Baptist Church (4211 Opelousas St, Lake Charles, LA 70615). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
