He was predeceased by: his parents, James Whatley and Esther Whatley; and his siblings, Sylvia, Jim and Nancy.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy of Lake Charles; his children, Nicole (Marshall) of Roanoke, Jordan (Patricia) of Baton Rouge, Josh (Kali) of Lake Charles and Jake (Paige) of Lake Charles; and his brother Tommy Whatley (Judy) of Campbellsville, Kentucky..

Viewing was held on Thursday, December 5th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, December 6th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Trinity Baptist Church (1800 Country Club Rd, Lake Charles, LA 70605).
