He was predeceased by: his parents, Joeanna Bias and Alvin P. Childress Sr.; and his sisters, Emma L. Lewis and Beatrice Childress. He is survived by: his wife Vivian Staves Childress; his children, Dehavonna Childress, Sarafina Childress, Alvin Childress III and Khoren Childress; his stepson Morris Williams Jr.; his grandchildren, A'Leya Frazier, Leona Childress, Alexia and Amani Williams; his great grandchild Aurie Thomas; his siblings, Beola Childress, Shironda Jackson (Byron), Temetra Childress, Vanessa Tellford, Oscar Tellford, Jerry Tellford and Ricky Childress; and his siblings-in-law, Debra Thomas (Mark), Terri Staves, Sandra Staves (Billy), Judy Williams (Craig), Larry Staves (Faye) and John Staves (Dana). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
