He is survived by: his wife Julia Rentas Fortner; his children, Donna Fortner Dunnican (Ronnie), Picheska "Pichi" Marrero and John E. Fortner, Jr.; his granddaughters, Hailey Moore (Isaac Buck) and Avery Dunnican Williams (Colby); and his sister Dawn Fortner Anderson.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 15th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Delhomme Funeral Home - Lafayette (1011 Bertrand Dr, Lafayette, LA 70506). A memorial service was held on Sunday, December 15th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers (1011 Bertrand Dr, Lafayette, LA 70506).
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations be made to the Hospice of Acadiana Foundation.
