He is survived by: his sister Barbara Packard Lorio of St. Francisville; his former wife Helen Jinks Packard of Lafayette; his children, Chris Packard (Carol Ann) of Houston, Tex., Jason Packard of Lafayette and Nicole Packard Core (Jason) of Torrance, Calif.; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Packard of Lafayette, Jack and Genevieve Core of Torrance, Calif..

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all honorary giving be made to Fred's favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

I've loved him for 50 years and miss his gravely voice and chuckles as well as his wisdom, humor, common sense and his genuine sense of loving empathy.
