She was predeceased by: her husband Travis Skinner; her parents, James May and Helen May; and her siblings, Jessie May and Thelma "Cricket" Dangerfield.
She is survived by: her children, Bwana Bendel (Quincy), James Earl May, Ramona Newell (James), Michael "Big Mike" May (Shawnda), Jerree May (Mark), Raymond May (Jalyn) and Kawangelyn Tillis; and her siblings, Velma Guillory, Wilford May, Cora Arceneaux, John May, Leonna May, Robert May, Marshall May, Margaret Victorian and Patricia Guillory. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
