He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Strickland and Willie Mae Strickland; his son Henry Strickland, Jr.; and his siblings, Percy, Willie, RuthS Strickland, Geraldine Lewis, Evelyn Lockett, Elizabeth Washington, Donnice Robertson, Freddie Mae Stewart, Ella Lee James and Yvonne Williams.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Lockett Strickland; his children, Trina Johnson (Christopher), Ashley (Whitney), Shanina, Joshua, Jasmin and Shiquana (Melvin); his siblings, Gladys S. Williams, Odile, Odell, Hebert and Jules Strickland (Dolores); and his godchildren, Antoinette and Mark Strickland. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren.
