It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Marlin Blackwell II of Kentwood, Louisiana, born in Slidell, Louisiana, who passed away on February 24, 2025, at the age of 53, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his wife Denise; his parents, John Blackwell and Catherine East; his siblings, Brian Blackwell, Robert Blackwell and Sarah Blackmon (Denise Blackwell); his children, John Blackwell III (Cecilia), Garrett Schwankhart (Mackenzie) and Brooke Granger (Spencer); and his grandchildren, Levi, Lucy and Enola.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and at 1:30 PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Metairie Baptist Church (401 Codifer Blvd, Metairie, LA 70005). A procession will be held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Fire House (1441 St Peter, New Orleans, LA 70116). The military honors will be held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Tylertown Cemetery.
