He was predeceased by: his granddaughters, Hailey and Bailey Vigneaux; his son Jed Abshire; his siblings, Wesley, Richard Abshire, Mahlan LeBlanc and Ellen Menard; his parents, Hazel Hebert and Pierre Abshire; and his uncle Willis Boudoin.
He is survived by: his wife Callie Cormier Abshire of Kaplan; his children, Christopher Abshire (Sarah) of Forked Island, Joshua Abshire of Kaplan and Dawn (Matthew Vigneaux) of Cow Island; his daughter-in-law Lindsay Abshire of Kaplan; and his siblings, Alvis Abshire (Ethel) of Bossier City, Gerald Abshire of Bossier City, Linda Abshire (Fernest Mouton) of Kaplan and Patricia Boudoin of Kaplan. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several godchildren.
