He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Wiley and Lodema Gillum (Anderson); and his siblings, J. D. Gillum, Charles Gillum, Marie Ramsey, Gwendolyn Strother and Katherine Couples.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Griffin Gillum of Virginia; his sons, William Emory Gillum (Elaine) and David Wayne Gillum (Karen); and his grandchildren, Lindsey Henson (Walt), Lauren Jones (Barry), Jeffrey Gillum, Lance Gillum and Kara Bradley (Douglas). He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives.
