He was predeceased by: his father Alfred Sanders; his children, Jessica Mitchell and James B. Sanders; his former wife Lillie B. Sanders; and his mother Gladys Lavalier-Chenault.
He is survived by: his wife Deborah Annette Smiley-Sanders of Jennings, LA; his children, Michelle Sanders (Reggie), Nordell Reed, Lisa Charles (Kenneth), Deidre Sanders and Ja'Lisa Sanders; his stepsons, Derrick Lavoy, Terry Simon (Wanda) and Kirt Simon (LouWanda); his sisters, Shirley Williams and Shelia Chenault; his grandchildren, Daivanie Lyons, Amiracle McZeal, Klyde Massey and Denver Williams; and his great grandchild Dallas Lyons. He is also survived by other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
