He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert W. Smith and Flossie "Mama Abby" Joseph Smith of Jeanerette, Louisiana.. He is survived by: his wife Willie Mae Tate; his children, Wayne Smith (Detria), Allena Price (Alfred) of Clinton, MS., Darlene Gibson (Wilton), James Smith, Lisa Richard (Paul), Byron Smith (Felicia) of Missouri City, TX., Warren Smith (Laura), Kenneth Smith (Lisa) of Hahnville, LA., Dr. Samona Smith Drexler (Wrenwick), Willie Smith (Angela) of Franklin, LA., Jonathan Smith of New Iberia, LA. and Demetra Smith (Eric Metz); his siblings, Jerry Lynn Smith (Linda) of Missouri City, TX. and Evelyn Richardson (Burnell) of Winnsboro, LA.; his siblings-in-law, Elder Clifton Tate (Janice), Roy Allen Tate, Cecila Smith, Barbara Alexander, Gail Clark and Pamela Tate; his nieces and nephews, Rev. Dynell Jones (Karen) of Youngsville, LA. and Warner Colbert; his great great grandchild Joyce Hensley; his goddaughter Dr. Pearl T. Andrews; his close friend Keith Lewis; his son Dwan Smith; his brothers, Leroy and Robert Smith; his grandchildren, Trevalon Antoine, Jared Chavis and Ty'Asia Smith; and his parents-in-law, Willie and Emily Tate. He is also survived by 36 Grandchildren, 63 Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Jerusalem Baptist Church (835 Monnot Rd, Jeanerette, LA 70544). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
