He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara "Peetsy" Trahan Barton; his parents, Leonard Earl Barton and Julie Grantham Barton; and his brothers, Roy and Terry Barton.

He is survived by: his children, Donna Barton Benoit (Kevin) and William Barton; and his sisters, Annette Withers and Carolyn Brown. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.
