He is survived by: his wife Debbie Mathews; his children, Debra Byrd, Gail Myers, Mollie Huckaby, Amanda Mathews, Mickey Mathews (Melissa), Dagiel Mathews, Jr., Mangrum Mathews (Stephanie) and Langrum Mathews (Crystal); his stepson Charlie Wes Henderson; his son James Chavis (Connie); and his sister Mattie Weiss. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
