He was predeceased by: his parents, John Willis Mathews and Clara Marie Harlow. He is survived by: his wife Elsie Ruth Downey Mathews; his daughter Hazel "Janel" Mathews Marcus (Christopher); his granddaughter Makenna Renee; and his siblings, Joyce Pipkin (Eldon), Patty Mathews and John Mathews.
