He was predeceased by: his parents, Cleveland, Jr. Gathen and Elouise White Gathen; his siblings, Cleveland Gathen, III and Gloria of Washington; and his grandparents, Cleveland, Sr., Eva Gaither, John, Sr. and Octavia White.
He is survived by: his children, Terrance (Nekisha), Lashika, John and Tyrone Gathen, Jr. (Ashley); and his brother Jackie Gathen. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; one great grandchild.
