He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Whatley; his parents, Horace Sr. Whatley and Hazel Whatley; and his siblings, Horace Whatley Jr., Dorman Whatley and Bobbie Faye Lawson.

He is survived by: his sons, Bruce Whatley (Kim) and Bryan Whatley; and his siblings, Priscilla Pope and Sammy Whatley. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.
