He is survived by: his wife Gloria "Blackie" Scott Benoit; his children, Monna Benoit Champagne and Melvin J. Benoit Jr.; his children-in-law, Kenneth P. Champagne and Marilyn C. Benoit; and his sister Mae B. Fanguy. He is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
