He was predeceased by: his parents, Fields Thomas, Sr. and Oceola Smith Thomas; his daughter Sherill Patrice Davis; his brother Wallace S. Thomas, Sr.; and his nephew Wallace S. Thomas, II.

He is survived by: his children, Timika T. Ross (Carl, Sr.), Daphne Thomas, Lindsay Thomas, Quinnata Thomas and Leroy Thomas, Jr.; and his siblings, Fields Thomas, Jr. (Joan), Mary Lee Williams (Major) and Bertha Franklin. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.
