He was predeceased by: his children, Gertie R. Brooks and Dexter B. Ray; his parents, Thomas, Sr. Ray and Celia Wagner Ray; and his siblings, Arthur, Ronald, Thomas, Jr., Donald Ray, Sr., Evelyn Williams and Bertha R. Thierry.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Smith Ray; his children, Nicholas Ray, Leroy Ray (Roxanne), Gerard Ray (Michelle), Donna M. Ray and Celia M. Ray; and his siblings, Jessie Ray (Martha) and Carol D. Ray. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren.
