He was predeceased by: his wife Asalie McKay Smith; his former wife Delores Porter Smith; his son Glenmar Smith; his parents, David Smith and Martha Williams Smith; his siblings, Rosalie Harris, Queen Ester Price, Beatrice Braggs, Oceola Thomas, Gloria Aubert, Ethel Butler, Claude and Johnathan Smith; and his grandparents, Robert, Martha Smith, Johnny and Cloteal Williams.

He is survived by: his sons, Derrick, David and Dial Smith. He is also survived by four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; devoted niece.
