He was predeceased by: his parents, Jackson B. Cosby and Elvie Rivers Cosby; his brothers, Jack Frank "Buck" Cosby and Chester Cosby; and his brother-in-law Leslie Disotell.

He is survived by: his sons, David John Brown Cosby (Bridget) and Shane Michael Punch; and his siblings, Roy Cosby (Judy), Mary Melancon (Edward), Sally Marie Disotell and Frances Rose Cosby Bourque (Harold).
