He is survived by: his wife Laura Babin Carpenter; his sons, Benjamin Edward Jr. (Kristen C. Carpenter) and Christopher Carpenter; his parents, Benjamin Eugene and Kathryn Jane Carpenter; and his sister Denise Carpenter Thomas.
