He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin Bordelon and Theresa Cole; his brother Irvin Ray Yates; his son Alvin Jr.; and his siblings-in-law, Emery and Jeanne Martin.
He is survived by: his wife Arlene Martin; his son Jaymon Yates; his daughter-in-law Tessalina; his daughters, Tonya and Heidi; his sister Jane Ogden; and his pets, Josie "Peanut", Khloe and Dave. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
