He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Marshal Baxter and Maudie Beaird Baxter; his stepfather J. M. Edwards; his siblings-in-law, Shorty and Maxine Giles; his brother Eddie Joe Baxter; his brothers-in-law, George Norman and Edroe Pesnell; his niece Denise Bratton; his wife Sheila Giles Baxter; his children, Ellen Shepherd (Erik) of Athens and Clint Baxter (Victoria) of New Blaine, Arkansas; his sisters, Shirley Pesnell and Sue Quinney (Ben); his grandchildren, Emma, Gage Shepherd, Nate, Kaden and Lukas Baxter; his grandfather Wayne; his pets, Duke, Pearl, Matt Dillon and Kitty; his nephew Chad; and his family Ellen. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
In lieu of flowers honoring Papa Wayne, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude or Homer High School Baseball Program at 1008 North Main, Homer, LA 71040.
