He was predeceased by: his parent Verdie Mayeux Deshotel, Sr.; his wife Patsy Normand Deshotel; his sons, Joseph and James Deshotel; his parent Hosea Deshotel, Sr.; his siblings, Rosa Lee Gaspard, Charles, Eddie and Gerald Deshotel; his sons-in-law, Levi Sullivan and Dale Cormier; and the mother of his children Narcille Normand.
He is survived by: his children, Susan Allen (Phil) of Downsville, LA, Joy Sullivan of Bunkie, LA, Carolyn Cormier of Hessmer, LA, Kerry Rachal of Hessmer, LA and Patrick Rachal of Hessmer, LA; his siblings, Loraine Landry, Diana Knoll, Connie Tate, Hosea Deshotel, Jr. and Eugene Deshotel; and his grandchildren, Jeremy, Jesse, Jamee, Angie, Lacey, Meagan, Dustin, Kandice, Sarah, Cyrus, Samuel, Abram and Liam.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, Gideons International or Hessmer Nursing Home Resident Fund.
